Manual prepared in accordance with section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act no: 2 of 2000 (‘the Act’) for the

Deutscher Schulverein Pretoria (DSP)

Company Overview

The DSP, also know as the Deutsche Schule Pretoria, is a bilingual educational institution offering:

  • primary school education (Grade 1-6) in accordance with the curriculum of the Federal Republic of Germany (German medium)
  • junior high school education (Grade 7-9) in accordance with the curriculum of the Federal Republic of Germany (German medium)
  • senior high school education (Grade 10-12) in accordance with the Gauteng Province Education Department curriculum in preparation for the South African Matric examination (English medium);
  • German “A” Level education for the post-Matric class in preparation for the German “Abitur” examination (German medium);
  • English speaking branch as from 5th Grade to enable non-German speaking pupils to be integrated into the High School and to prepare them for the SA Matric examination as well as the German “Abitur”.

The Deutsche Schule Pretoria was established in 1899 by the German Lutheran Church. It was first situated in the heart of Pretoria and later moved to its present location in The Willows. The school has been offering quality education for more than 100 years.

Such information as is required for the day-to-day running of the DSP:

  • School registration: availability to be determined upon receipt of request

  • Data base of pupils & parents: availability to be determined upon receipt of request
  • Annual financial statements: availability to be determined upon receipt of request
  • Minutes of all board, management and sub-committee meetings: availability to be determined upon receipt of request
  • Parent teachers’ Association Constitution: availability to be determined upon receipt of request
  • School policy documents: availability to be determined upon receipt of request
  • School fees: availability to be determined upon receipt of request
  • Licences: availability to be determined upon receipt of request

Fees in respect of requests for information
Fees in respect of private bodies

1. The fee for a copy of the manual as contemplated in regulation 9(2)© for every photocopy of an A4 size or part thereof R 1.10
2. The fees for reproduction referred to in regulation 11(1) are as follows:  
  a. For every photocopy of an A4-sized page or part thereof R 1.10
  b. For every printed copy of an A4-sized page or part thereof on a computer or in electronic or machine-readable form R 0.75
  c. For a copy in a computer-readable form on
• stiffy disk
• compact disk

  d. For a copy of visual images, for a A4-sized page or part thereof R 60.00
3. The request fee payable by a requester, other than a personal requester, referred to in regulation 11(2) is R 50.00
4. The access fee payable by a requester referred to in regulation 11(30) are as follows:  
  a. For every photocopy of an A4-sized page or part thereof R 1.10
  b. For every printed copy of an A4-sized page or part thereof held on a computer or in electronic or machine-readable form R 0.75
  c. For a copy in computer-readable form on
• stiffy disk
• compact disk

  d. For a copy of visual images, for an A4-sized page or part thereof R 60.00
  e. To search for and prepare the record for disclosure, for each hour and part of an hour R 30.00
       
5. For purposes of section 54(2) of the Act, the following applies:  
  a. Six hours as the hours to be exceeded before a deposit is payable; and  
  b. One third of the access fee is payable as a deposit by the requester  
       
6. the actual postage is payable when a copy of a record must be posted to a requester
